Here's one for the Hot Stove Crew: Everyone knows Derek Jeter isn't going to play shortstop forever. Is there any chance that this is the year that they move Jeter to LF and either sign a SS or promote someone from within? Isn't it better to let Jeter transition away from SS coming off of a great year (excellent year in the field, coming off of a WS win) instead of a down year? Jeff G Marlton NJ

I'm not sure I'm liking this rumor I'm hearing about the Yankees trading for Grandersen. Yankees would have to give up Austin Jackson, Ian Kennedy, Phil Coke and Mike Dunn. That's way too much. We would get back Grandersen and some prospects from the D-backs. I like Grandersen, but who's to say Jackson isn't the same type of player. If I'm trading Jackson this offseason, it's for Halladay.

It would appear that Petitte will be back so the front three of CC, AJ and Andy are there. From there it goes to Joba, Hughes, Wang, Kennedy, Mitre or Gaudin. Wang is said to be working hard but won't be ready until May. Gaudin and Mitre are marginal pitchers so that leaves the logical choice of Hughes as a starter and Joba back in the pen. If my analysis is correct we need a number four starter until and if Wang comes back. Also we must address the arms in the outfield at some point. Love Cervelli instead of Molina which saves a few bucks. As for Halladay he is great but we would have to give up plenty and then pay huge money after this year. I would think the biggest part of this deal would be who else is signable next year.
