People Just Don't get it

I was having coffee with a few friends the other night and one asked me why is it I only wear Yankees Related clothes. I told him is there anything else that I should wear? Is there a Clothing style that I somehow missed here in Australia? My Wardrobe has turned out slightly like Yankeesman and is still growing. I've decided to exchange all my clothes with something from the Yankees Range of clothing because I want everyone to know I love this team and will always love it till time stops for me.

They then ask why the love of baseball. I tell them it not baseball it's life, it's about following the Greatest team that there is and will ever be. It's about a passion for a team who will always be champions even if they don't have the ring to show it. It's also about the courage they show each and every time they go onto the field and play the greatest game on this green earth.

My Love for the Yankees happened when we won the 1977 World Series and I was living in Brooklyn, it was a day that would stay with me forever. The cheers and yells that came from drunken men who watched the game form the local bar and then started walking up towards my direction yelling "WE'VE WON, WE'VE WON WE’RE THE CHAMPIONS AGAIN". That when love struck me hard and turned me into a crazed Yankees fan.

One friend also pointed out to the guy asking question that I would never leave the house without my Yankees cap on, if I walk out the door and haven't placed it on my heads I'll turn back and go get it. The guy shock his head and I asked why you shaking your head? He had no reply to it.

Being a Yankees Fan is like describing the feeling you have for someone, it's like asking someone who is in love what that feeling is like, there is no one answer for it, there is no word that can describe what the feeling of being a Yankee fan is all about, it's just something that makes you feel happy and on top of the world even when the chips are down for our team.

I think for the people I know here, me being a Yankees fan is strange because I live in Australia and baseball is not really popular here. But baseball was part of my youth when I was living in the U.S.A and I've always had baseball related stuff around me. I've tried to follow other sports but it doesn't have the same impact as baseball does for me. Here's to Baseball the Greatest game………….

"Take me out to the ball game,
Take me out with the crowd.
Buy me some peanuts and cracker jack,
I don't care if I never get back,
Let me root, root, root for the home team,
    If they don't win it's a shame.
For it's one, two, three strikes, you're out,
    At the old ball game."
