Derek Jeter is an MLB All-Star Game shortstop for the New York Yankees. In 1996 he won the American League Rookie of the Year and in 2000 he became the only player to win the All-Star Game MVP and World Series MVP awards in the same year. During a September 15 game against the Tampa Bay Devil Rays, Jeter received a close pitch at the plate and pretended to have been hit by the ball. He jumped, grabbed his hand and doubled over in pain. The umpire allowed Jeter to run to first base. The video replay, however, showed that the pitch had actually struck Jeter's bat, not his hand.
